Nova Mae Madrid, D.O. (they/them) is a board certified Internal Medicine physician. They have been practicing Traditional Osteopathy and General Internal Medicine since 2019. Their passion for Osteopathy lead them to found Whole Health Osteopathy in March 2024.
Dr. Madrid studied undergraduate Behavioral Neuroscience, Nutrition, and Spanish at the University of Pennsylvania in 2009. They worked at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine as a research coordinator, leading research studies and quality improvement projects with the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine group. They went on to study medicine at the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Oregon (COMP-NW). It was there that they fell in love with Osteopathy, and completed a 1 year pre-doctoral fellowship in Osteopathic Medicine. They returned to New England for Internal Medicine Residency at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA.
Dr. Madrid is a member of the Society for General Internal Medicine and the Osteopathic Cranial Academy. Before founding Whole Health Osteopathy, they served as an attending physician and General Internal Medicine faculty at Baystate Medical Center/UMass Medical School.
Dr. Madrid has a specialty practice in Traditional Osteopathy, specializing in treatment of complex chronic conditions with Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT). Throughout their medical training and practice, they have witnessed the profound healing effects of Osteopathy. They believe that the best medicine is that which focuses on finding and supporting health, rather than disease. They see human touch as a vital part of connecting with patients and providing therapeutic and treatment benefits. Their awe of human anatomy and physiology, and our tendency toward resilience and health, keeps them passionate about their work in Osteopathy.
At home, they are a busy mom of three sweet boys, one goldendoodle, and in partnership with a remarkable human. They have been in the Pioneer Valley since 2016, a place they now call home. They are keen on connecting with food and the natural world, and are appreciative of all the local area farms/CSAs and outdoor trails/mountains/waterways in the area. They’re always up for exploring new hikes, museums, art and activities around the area.
